INSIDER SPOTS AND STYLE TIPS FROM A PERFUME EXPERT, OLYA BAR
Fragrance expert, writer, and Head of Marketing Strategy & Communications for Europerfumes’ Digital Division, Olya was born in Moscow, where scent erupted with vitality from an early age. She grew up immersed in nature laying the foundations for a olfactory memory. By ten, she was already a fragrance hunter, Liz Claiborne Vivid marking her first obsession. In 2011, a turning point at a New York niche perfumery fused her love of craft and storytelling, shaping her view of fragrance as an emotional language she expresses daily.
"The city is chaotic, magnetic, exhausting, and addictive all at once. We complain constantly, yet the thought of leaving feels impossible. It’s alive, opinionated, fast-moving, full of incredible food, culture, and yes… unforgettable smells (some better than others:)"

Fragrance as my daily expression
"For me, fragrance is emotional language. I experience life through scent, moods, memories, people, places. I layer, rotate, and change fragrances the way others change outfits or playlists. It’s how I express myself daily. Perfume may be my profession, but inspiration comes from everything else. What you consume creatively shows up in your work. I’m deeply inspired by art, literature, architecture, fashion, gastronomy, anything rooted in aesthetics and storytelling. I spend a lot of time observing visual culture and spatial design, which constantly feeds into campaign ideas and creative direction. Keeping my world rich makes my work sharper."

NEW YORK’S VIBE IN A BOTTLE
IMPERIAL LEATHER
"IMPERIAL LEATHER immediately resonated with me. It carries a beautiful duality, softness layered with strength which feels very New York. It reminds me of the iconic black leather jacket most of us live in : effortless, functional, and quietly powerful."

BUILDING A FRAGRANCE WARDROBE EXPERT TIPS
Building a fragrance wardrobe should be intentional and personal, not impulsive or excessive. Just like style, taste evolves. You don’t need hundreds of bottles; that turns joy into clutter.
"Think of it like a capsule wardrobe: A crisp everyday scent you rely on. A leather or woody fragrance that feels like armor. A cozy musk for home days. And something decadent for evenings — your olfactory tuxedo."
Curate with purpose !

CITY SIPS: THE GLAMOUR OF OLD NEW YORK
Nightlife classics
Photography by Lexi Orizio on Pexels
"I love The Campbell inside Grand Central Terminal. It’s a restored Jazz Age jewel, dramatic ceilings, historic details, a grand fireplace and it still carries the glamour of old New York. The cocktails are excellent, and the energy feels cinematic. I’d pair this space with leather-forward, boozy, or oud-accented fragrances — bold, elegant, and slightly mysterious."
A renowned New York institution, The Campbell has been reimagined by the Gerber Group, marrying preserved architectural grandeur with modern, approachable design. Honoring financier John W. Campbell’s 1923 private-office legacy, the space remains rich in Florentine-influenced craft and century-old details, while inviting guests to enjoy three distinct atmospheres: a refined bar, a palm-filled court with terminal views, and a terrace for al fresco entertaining.
Uncover this iconic space and take a piece of New York’s Jazz Age essence with you.

METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART AND THE COSTUME INSTITUTE
A FASHION CHRONICLE
"You can visit it endlessly and never experience it the same way twice. It’s timeless inspiration. May sets the stage for the Met Gala every spring which kicks off the yearly fashion exhibit at the Met which is absolutely worth visiting."
The Met Gala weaves philanthropy, spectacle, and scholarship into a singular annual story about fashion.
The Met Gala stands as one of the world’s premier fashion events, staged annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to raise funds for the Costume Institute. It blends a glamorous gala with a museum-curated, thematic summer exhibition, framing the evening’s aesthetics and spectacle. The 2023 exhibition, Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, celebrated the designer’s influence on haute couture. The 2026 edition, Costume Art, promises to explore fashion as a form of art and creative expression.
The May 10th, 2026 gala, co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and the inimitable Anna Wintour, sets the stage for Beyoncé’s eagerly anticipated return to the event !
COSTUME ART EXHIBITION
The Spring 2026 exhibition from the Costume Institute, “Costume Art,” surveys how the dressed figure is represented across The Met’s holdings by pairing garments with artworks to reveal the bond between attire and the body. It focuses primarily on Western visual culture from antiquity to the present, linking pieces from the Costume Institute with objects from other departments. The body takes center stage in conversations about art and fashion, celebrated across eras and cultures.
Costume Art is undoubtedly the must-see exhibition of 2026.

DINING ETIQUETTE, SUBTLETY OVER STATEMENT
"When dining out, restraint is key! Strong scent interferes with taste, especially wine. There’s a reason sommeliers avoid fragrance. Light application only, let the food shine."

FRAGRANCE MEETS THE CITY
International Fragrance Day
"Between work and motherhood, my calendar is selective, mostly PR and fragrance launches now. But March is special : International Fragrance Day transforms the city into a scent playground. Brands host events, masterclasses, and experiences with perfumers who often live and work right here in NYC."

Eclectic NYC: How Vintage, Tailoring, and Playful Mood Define Olya’s Fashion
Photo @olyabar
"I’m a strong believer in vintage shopping and mixing high and low. That mindset started during my FIT days (Fashion Institute of Technology), when budgets were tight but creativity was high. Flea markets and resale shops became treasure hunts, and I never stopped loving that thrill. Hell’s Kitchen flea market and Beacon’s Closet remain favorites. My style reflects New York: eclectic, layered, expressive, confident. But I also look at fashion as a playful mood expression so if I feel like embracing a romantic character from the 1800s I will do so, and I love a good suit, tailored to perfection. You will catch me often wearing a tie too!"
THE SCENT OF STYLE PAIRING PERFUME WITH OUTFITS
"It’s all about mood and texture. If I'm choosing, a velvet suit will most likely reach for deep woods. Silk gown - Sensual florals. White tee and denim? Clean skin scents and white musk."
